Earth Transmission Received

I have reached the continent Earth calls...

Australia.

At first, I assumed it would be similar to the others.

I was mistaken.

Earth's records describe a large animal known as a kangaroo.

It travels by launching itself across the ground using two incredibly powerful legs.

Its tail acts as a balancing limb.

Its feet are powerful enough to deliver kicks capable of seriously injuring predators.

Naturally...

I assumed these creatures were rare.

They are not.

Current Earth estimates suggest there are more kangaroos than humans living in Australia.

I replayed the transmission several times expecting a translation error.

There wasn't one.

The humans appear completely comfortable sharing their continent with millions of muscular animals that can leap farther than many Earth vehicles are long.

Earth continues to surprise me.

Naes' Research Notes

On Planet Pallet, whenever one species greatly outnumbers another...

The larger population usually ends up making the rules.

Earth insists this is not the case.

Apparently the kangaroos simply go about their lives while humans build cities around them.

I have many additional questions.

Earth Fact

Australia is famous for its unique wildlife because it evolved in relative isolation for millions of years.

Kangaroos are marsupials, meaning they carry and raise their young in a pouch.

Several kangaroo species exist, and population estimates vary with environmental conditions, but in many years their total population has exceeded Australia's human population.

Hermit's Reflection

"Power is not measured by numbers alone. Wisdom is knowing when strength is unnecessary."
